The Tällberg Foundation proudly announces the winners of this year’s Tällberg-SNF-Eliasson Global Leadership Prizes, awarded annually to well established and emerging leaders working in any field and any country whose leadership is courageous, innovative, rooted in universal values and global in application or in aspiration.
The Winners – Established Category
The three established leaders have track records of accomplishments that are substantial and who, in the jury’s judgement, are likely to continue to make important, positive contributions in their chosen field.

About the Prize
The Tällberg Foundation explores the issues that are challenging and changing our societies with the goal of stimulating new thinking for a new world.
We believe that a new kind of leadership is badly needed for our societies to prosper: leadership that is innovative, courageous, dynamic, rooted in universal values and global in implication. In that spirit, we established the Tällberg-SNF-Eliasson Global Leadership Prize. The prize name honors the Stavros Niarchos Foundation, whose support makes it possible, and Jan Eliasson, one of the most accomplished global diplomats of our era. Both SNF and Jan share Tällberg’s deep commitment to encouraging positive global change.
The Prize is awarded annually to outstanding leaders from any country and any discipline, leaders who not only have a substantial track record of accomplishment, but also who are likely to continue to make extraordinary contributions to human welfare.
Prize winners may be nominated by anyone, anywhere and are ultimately selected by a secret ballot of a jury composed of accomplished global leaders.
- We will award three Prizes for leaders whose track record of accomplishments is substantial and who, in the jury’s judgement, are likely to continue to make important, positive contributions in their chosen field. Each of these awards will carry a $50,000 honorarium.
- This year the Prize will also recognize three winners in the category of emerging leaders who have already demonstrated high potential and capacity, but the bulk of whose accomplishments are likely to be in the future. Each of these two awards will carry a $10,000 honorarium.
Of course, all leaders who are honored will meet the core criteria of the Prize.

Creating user-friendly justice
Muller is a self-described “justice junkie.” He spent his early career in international law working in hot zones, then moved on to work with the Yugoslav Tribunal and the ICC in the Hague. Those experiences left him convinced that justice systems could offer much more value for everyday people seeking fair outcomes in legal matters.
Helping Venezuelan refugees live better lives
Like millions of her fellow Venezuelans, Lala Lovera knows what it is like to build a new life in another country. When she discovered that too many refugees in her new home of Colombia lacked access to adequate food, shelter and education, she launched Fundación Comparte Por Una Vida Colombia (CPUV Colombia).
The Nomination Process
1. Nominations
Anyone, anywhere can make nominations (up to 2 per nominations per person). We look forward to receiving nominations for next year in early 2023 for leaders who demonstrate the willingness and capacity to address the complexity of 21st-century realities in innovative, risk-taking, and value-based ways, and whose work is global in aspiration or implication.
2. Jury
A pre-jury team reviewed the nominations and determined if a given nomination meets the broad Prize criteria. Then an international jury reviewed the nominations during the summer and selected the people who, in their judgment, best exemplified the types of leaders needed today.
3. Celebrate!
The winners are invited to virtual celebrations and explorations of global leadership on December 13, 2022 and December 15, 2022 where they will join past laureates, jury members and other global leaders.
